Exploring Architecture, Arts, and Design (undecided)

Exploring Architecture, Arts, and Design

Explore Architecture, Arts, and Design is an exploratory major in the 聽聽designed and structured for students who know they are interested in Architecture, Arts, and Design disciplines, but want the opportunity to learn more about their major options in these fields and get to know our fifteen academic programs across the college: Architecture, Art History, Cinema, Consumer Studies, Creative Technologies, Fashion Merchandising and Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Music, Property Management, Residential Environments and Design, Studio Art, and Theatre.

How Does it Work?

Once accepted into the Explore AAD major, students will pursue coursework across the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design; and take classes meeting some of their Pathways general education graduation requirements, while simultaneously gaining detailed advising and information about each of our 15 academic programs through presentations by faculty, their classes, and attendance at events. 聽Explore AAD majors have access to selected classes typically limited only to our majors. Explore AAD majors are advised into these courses during new student orientation.聽

Note: If an Explore AAD student applies and is accepted into one of the following programs 鈥 Architecture, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or Landscape Architecture 鈥 they will enroll in Summer Studio the following summer, and then join the 2nd year major cohort in fall of their second year.

You鈥檒l be advised by Kyle Hawkins, Director of Academic Advising and Student Success in the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, and receive advice on taking classes relevant to a AAD major or majors in which you are interested, and assistance transitioning into your chosen AAD major in your second semester.
